WOYWW #384--Back from Up North!

Hi All,

Let me just say that I've missed you!  Although our vacation was grand, after a couple day I really did miss home!

Here we are at WOYWW # 384.  Stop on over to visit Julia's Stamping Ground where you can learn all about what WOYWW is and more.  Don't forget to visit all other fabulous artists.  You don't even have to leave home, you can do it right from your armchair.  Better yet do it from your desk and post it here next week!

Here's what's happening on my desk this week:
Way back on Oct 1, I worked the Fun Stampers Journey booth at the Akron Scrapbook & Stamping convention.  Here's my only indulgence....a 13" Misti stamping tool. I've been coveting this for some time now so I decided to take the plunge. Glad I did as I saved myself some greenbacks because there was no shipping & handling. Honesty being the best policy...I bought a stamp too but I swear that's all!

Next to that are the layouts I finished at a crop on the 8th.  Underneath are the ones I still have to complete.

Yes..I was busy.  First the stamping show, then the trip to Canada, home for the dishwasher repair people (that's a whole sordid tale) and then off to an all day crop.

I was kind of hoping to take this week off to relax, but my boss had a totally different take on that thought!

Here's a couple of my favorite layouts.  I love the TV on this one!

Someone told me this was the ugliest paper they had ever seen.  Here's looking at you girl!

These are a couple of my favorite pics of Niagara Falls, Canada.  We took a boat into the falls, walked the tunnels 1/3 of the way behind them and spent plenty of time walking next to them. If you ever get a chance to go...don't put it off.  They are awe inspiring!

Until next week....
Stay hungry for adventure!
Hugs,
Chris

  1. Hi Chris, great deal on the MISTI. They are starting to take off over here, along with a lookalike, The Stampers Friend! At about half the price too! Not a 13" one yet, but I'm sure that will follow soon enough. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #6 xxx

    1. Hi Shaz! I saw the lookalike but no shipping to the states yet. I'm looking forward to using my stamps on my layouts now. Not that I couldn't before, but this will make it easier.
      Have a great week!

  4. Sounds like you've had a wonderful, busy time lately. I loved the falls - one of my favourite holidays! We went with Mum when she came over from England one year. Really beautiful. Congrats on your purchase. Sometimes that s/h can really make the price of something go up.

    Happy WOYWW

    1. It was beautiful and the weather was perfect. So happy to share another experience with my dear hubby, we had a great time. You are so right about the s/h. It can certainly make or break a deal.
      Have a great week.

  5. Happy WOYWW. I keep seeing the Misti mentioned and not entirely sure what it does. Must Google. I nearly went to see the Niagra Falls back in 1990. I had a week of travel on the Greyhound buses when I visited the US and had to choose between going south from New York or north. I ended up going down to New Orleans and Galveston - beautiful. When I went back, I ended up going as far as Boston for one day, but then ran out of travel days. Ali x #10

    1. Hi Ali! Yes those north/south decisions are tough...LOL! I've not been to Galveston but to Houston & San Antonio. Hope to be in New Orleans sometime next year.
The Misti is a great stamping tool and I'm eager to use it on scrapbook pages.
      Have a great week.

    1. I tried the smaller one, was going to get it and saw the big one was due out. Decided to wait it out...I don't know how I managed to hold out so long! I decided that since I do both cards and layouts I need to start using my stamps on pages. I hope to be posting them soon!
      Have a great week.

    2. Hi Chris, I'm the same but gave in. You know what my desk is like I would never find room for the big one but who knows I might just have to juggle things around a bit Lol! xXx

  8. I've never made it to Niagara Falls... it's on my bucket list. Your pictures and description are wonderful! I love the layouts, and for the lady who said it was the ugliest paper she'd ever seen, I hope that this layout proves her wrong! Have a great week! Heather #40

  9. Trust me, Chris's layouts look great in these photos but even better in person...I can't imagine who would tell you that the paper is ugly in that one layout...LOL...

  11. I'm very tempted to buy one of the alternative Mistis. There are at least two other (much less expensive) brands that I have seen! ($40 compared to $150+ !) I think it would be useful for my layered (Altenew) stamps.
    Have a good week,

  14. It's the second time I see that 'Mistis" coming up on a blog... I will look up what it is exactly.... and it's always a challenge to make 'ugly paper' work for you (and of course crafters tastes are different...) I don't like the scrapbook paper you show either, not as 'paper' that is, but I DO LIKE how you made it work on the layout. Great job!!! Happy woyww and a big hug from Holland, Marit #15

  16. Misti is popular it seems these days, the falls are on my bucket travel list. Thx for your visit and i think I might be learning some things from him too, kids can be so free and experimental. Vicky

  19. This is the second blog I've looked at today where a Misti was mentioned - I've never heard of this before and have no idea what it is!! What marvellous photos of the most impressive Niagara Falls! I'd love to see them one day.

Thank you for your lovely comment and especially for your prayers. The appointment went OK and I'm relieved that there was no cancer detected on the scan but they did discover some small clots in my lungs so I've got to go on aspirin to thin my blood a bit. Nothing to be concerned about, apparently. I agree though, the doctors could be a bit speedier giving us the results - it's been a bit of a stressful time this time, waiting, and I felt a bit messed about by the GP surgery.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  20. Oh so agree with you re the vellum technique.. and Chris, I've been coveting the Misti forever, and rob won't ever get one, they're so expensive Downunder.may come down to where I'm willing to pay if I wait long enough I keep hoping. In meantime I struggle on with the stamp a Ma jig use it often these days with sentiments
Thanks for popping over, Shaz in Oz.x

  21. I love my MISTI and I would tell people to be very careful of buying a cheaper version, I prefer to pay a decent price and know I can get after sales service rather than save some money initially and be left with an inferior product. Enjoy yours as much as you enjoyed the trip which sounds wonderful.
Hugs, Neet (thanks for visiting me earlier) xx

  22. That's a bit of an insult to say about that paper LOL! I find my taste changes and something that I might find ugly at one point becomes my favourite later. But it also works the other way around! Awesome photos of the waterfall! Would love to see it one day! Thanks for visiting earlier - and sorry it took me this long to get back to you! zsuzsa #22

  23. Hello Chris!Thank you for commenting on my blog last week! I see you have been to a nice show and also visited the Niagara falls! I went to the Niagara falls in the 60's as a child! We lived in the States at that time! Oil of Olbas is I think an English thing but you can use tea tree oil which is also good and works the same!
