WOYWW #379--Down Time

Hi All,

I hope everyone had a super holiday weekend!  The weather here was tantalizing, too bad it's going to get hotter than hot again this week.  I'm ready for the days to feel like fall, not mid-July!  But hey, at least it's not snowing.  I can guarantee you that in 3 to 4 months you WILL hear me whine about the cold, bitter, snowy days.  Maybe someone can send me some cheese to go with my whine!

Don't forget to take a minute to visit Julia and the rest of the WOYWW group at Julia's Stamping Ground.  They amaze me with their talents!

I spent the better part of Saturday getting the house cleaned and food prepped for a cookout. Then spent the better part of Sunday playing hostess for my family.  I don't know why I feel it's necessary to wait on my children and siblings.  I'm so over those day with the kids.  As for my siblings, I didn't wait on them hand over foot growing up so why should I now!  Now hear this Siblings & Children....from now on you will help yourselves while at my house.  This way I can sit back to poke fun at you while you're trying to find the silverware or TP!

I spent the better part of Monday playing in my craft room.  I don't have much to show for it, my desk is pretty clean....
By the light is my box of found stuff that needs to be put away.  I have a couple Fun Stampers Journey stamps out...I need to make a scrapbook page for a crop I'm co-hosting in 8 weeks.

The blue paper is for my Zoltar photo.  There's a new embellishment from my scraps next to that. My G45 Rare Oddities papers that I ordered last week & am loving every piece!  I'm working on an alphabet book for a granddaughter, this is the B is for Butterfly page.  There's some scraps I piled up to make another embellishment with. Not to be forgotten... in the middle of the table is a bag of Brach's candy corn. Ok...alright...a 1/2 a bag!  Candy corn is one of my favorite fall treats. Love them. Hey Brach's, if you are listening, I do accept free samples..hehehe!

Below is a close up of my page embellishment from scraps as well as the card I was pondering last week.  The papers are from Fun Stampers Journey as is the stamped sentiment.  The button belongs on this card, it just works!

Thanks for stopping by my place this week.  Wishing you a creative week ahead!

Until then,
Wrap your life in Sparkles!
Hugs,
Chris

  3. I agree with you about the weather. I love the cool, fall days. But it does usually stay somewhat warm until mid-September. I also agree with not waiting on your family. Tell them where the things are, and let them get it for themselves. (If you want to have a little fun, tell them the wrong place a couple of times!) And don't be afraid to ask for help. Your crafts and pages look great. Have a great week!

    1. I love to mess with my family. If I didn't they would think I was sick or something.
Cool weather is right around the corner.

  4. busy desks. I love candy corn too and bought a roll of duck tape with that print…yay! I was wondering…are you an oldest child? I think that is where my problem stems is from that…I was always made to look after and take care of the younger ones. I am the only child from my mothers and fathers marriage but she had 2 and he had 6 with their next spouses! I finally gave up one day. I don't even wait on my husband anymore! Hope you have a great week and have fun crafting. Vickie aka Okienurse #6

    1. I'm the second oldest, first girl in a family of 6. Then Dad had 1 more and so did Mom after divorcing. Plus there are 4 steps. We are one big happy blended family. I also have 8 grands, 5 natural and 3 steps but we consider all of them ours.
Christmas dinner here is a mixed bag of 25 in the immediate family. Wouldn't have it any other way!
Thanks for stopping...see you next week!

  7. Hello Chris. Oh how I hear that ....... I use to serve everyone who came in my door and go go go but now I am like you have been here so help yourself but I do clean like a mad women before dinner is held at my house but I have back slide into once again doing everything again. Must find my spine.....lol. I long for hot days again but would rather be cool and raining then cold and snow that is for sure. I love that Graphic 45 collection on your desk and I have noticed now they make candy corn for almost every holiday found Valentine and Christmas coloured ones. Thanks for visiting me earlier and have a wonderful week. Hugs ~Anne L#5

    1. Hi Anne! I don't clean like I used to either. We have a bar light that says "you're only a stranger here once" and that makes perfect sense to me. G45 is my favorite paper line. I've tried some of the other candy corn..I know it's only the color, but it just doesn't taste the same...LOL!
Thanks for stopping...see you next week.

  9. I love the G45 papers - I bet you'll have fun using those. The card and embellishment are great - that button is perfect on the card, although I do sometimes have trouble using up special buttons and things as they become 'too precious to use!'

  11. We've had unseasonably warm weather too - still walking around in t-shirts and light cotton trousers without a coat! Almost unheard of for the UK in September, you know!

Love the G45 papers, now I gotta find me some of those over here in the UK!

  12. hahaha I am just laughing along with the idea that you are going to stop waiting on people. ( its an osmosis to becoming your mama and your gma...)

I love how much free space you have on your desk in between projects too :)

  13. Ah, but people like being waited on while visiting. I know it is a hard habit to break as well. Love that Rare Oddities paper. I made two really elaborate cards with it last year as part of a class. I plan to keep those forever. It looks like you have some nice projects going on when you aren't imitating wait staff. Thanks for the visit earlier. Sorry it took me so long to wander by. PJ #36

    1. Hi Judy, I would love to see your G45 cards. I did an elaborate one from the Secret Garden collection but ended up giving it to my mom. It's still on her dresser 2 years later and I know it will come back to me..well worn and loved!

  14. It sounds as if you've had a busy time looking after your family, Chris! Nice papers on your desk. Thank you for your visit - yes, a busy time for Shoshi at the moment. We are pretty convinced I'm now cancer free but have to await scan results to be sure - they keep a good eye on you for 5 years after being pronounced all clear, just to be sure. I'm not worrying - if something does show up, we'll just have to deal with it, and no point worrying ahead of time, is there!

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  17. Belated Happy WOYWW, Chris. Sounds like you have been very busy entertaining and crafting. We do the same when family visits ... wait on them but then they do the same when it's us who are visiting so I'm not really complaining :) You have lovely projects on the go and isn't Graphic45 paper always fabulous. As you say, that button does look perfect. Thanks for visiting my blog. In answer to your question the blue floral is a 'bits and bobs' piece - I'm just waiting for some inspiration as to how to use it. Have a great Sunday. Elizabeth x #41
